I just finished crocheting this newborn hat and bootee set
for my cousin’s baby shower later this month. While crocheting I started thinking about
how many of my friends are currently expecting.
It seems like half my female friends will be having a child this spring or summer.
So, I decided to pull some of my favorite free baby crochet
patterns to share this week. When
attending a baby shower, I love to crochet something special for the baby. Even if I am purchasing another gift off of
the baby registry, I love to include something handmade as a sentimental
gift.
The first pattern is for mary jane baby booties from The Art
of Crochet by Teresa. I used this
pattern to create the white booties in my photo above and also used them to
make a Christmas gift for my unborn nephew. The written pattern is available on Teresa’s
blog, http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2009/08/crochet-baby-mary-jane-slippers.html,
but is also available as a video tutorial.
The pattern is very simple and the video tutorial makes it easy to
follow. I think they make the perfect
baby shower gift.
The second pattern I have included is this crochet baby
granny square quilt from the LionBrand.com. While I have not made this pattern myself,
the skill level is listed as “easy”. I
love the pattern and stitching on this blanket.
I think it makes it more interesting than the average solid blue, pink
or cream baby blanket.
The next pattern is titled, Baby Shower Booties, and comes
from the Michaels.com . I have made
this booties and I found the pattern to be fairly simple. These booties are perfect for either a little
girl or boy.
My final pattern is for a baby monkey hat by Nikki
Kirkwood. This hat is absolutely
adorable and would make a very unique gift.
The hat is pictured in pink but would also look adorable in blue or
brown for a little boy. The pattern is
available as a Ravelry free download.
