Florida Craftsmen is bringing needlecraft to
the community to create a Coral Reef which will be on display in Summer
2012 at the Florida Craftsmen Gallery in downtown St. Petersburg.
Contribute to this fantastic project by coming to the MFA for an evening of Underwater Crochet! If you don’ t know how to crochet, this is a perfect time to learn. If you have experience, come and expand your creativity!
Expand your knowledge while you crochet with a special lecture by Walt Jaap, an expert on coral reefs. Walt will talk about the parallel between corals and art through the ages, in a presentation titled: Crown Jewels of the Sea
The MFA is open until 8 pm on Thursdays, with reduced admission of $10 after 5 pm to visit the galleries. The meetup is free.
This project is a satellite of the worldwide Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef Project created by Margaret and Christine Wertheim of the Institute For Figuring in Los Angeles.
