Disney Inspired Mickey Mouse Toilet Paper Roll & Tissue Box Cover

I just created this spare toilet paper roll and tissue box cover for a customer this afternoon.  The customer is a fellow Disney lover, like myself and I loved creating these for her.

I also think they would look adorable in a child's bathroom.  The tissue box cover would also look adorable in a nursery.

You can purchase the pattern through Ravelry:

Or through Craftsy:  Purchase

Crochet Baby Bear Hat & Crocs Sandals Pattern

Crochet Baby Bear Hat and Crocs Sandals

Crochet Baby Crocs Pattern I just finished crocheting this newborn hat and crocs for my nephew who is due May 1st.  I absolutely love making projects with baby yarn.  It is so soft and comfy!  I created the pattern for the newborn bear hat and the pattern for the crocs came from Christal's Crochet.

(From Christal's Crochet)
Size 0- 3 months  / 3.5 inch sole
Bigger size changes in brackets for
4, 4.5 & 5 inch soles.

Materials- G hook, small amount WW yarn, yarn needle, 2 or 4
     buttons for trim.

Stitches used-
sl st - slip stitch, sts - stitches, ch - chain, sc - single crochet,
hdc - half-double crochet, dc - double crochet,
sc dec - single crochet decrease, dc dec - double
     crochet decrease

Sole
Rnd 1) Ch 10 [11,12,13], 2 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next 2 chs, hdc in the next 3 chs,  dc in the next 2 [3,4,5] chs, 6 dc in the last ch, then working on the opposite side of starting ch, dc in the next 2 [3,4,5] chs, hdc in the next 3 chs, sc in the next 2 chs,  sc in the same ch as the 1st 2 sc of this round. Join with sl st in the 1st sc. Ch 1. (23,25,27,29 sts)

Fasten off just means to cut the yarn and tie off leaving about a two inch tail.  Then, weave in the ends the same way you would finish any crochet project.

This is how the sandal should look after round 5.

After cutting the yarn and tying a small knot.

Thicker sole recommended for bigger sizes!
For thicker sole repeat rnds 1-3 and holding this piece against bottom of shoe, matching up stitches, slip st through both loops of this piece and leftover loops around bottom of shoe.

Enjoy!

Yarn Sale Alert

I just got back from a trip to Michaels where I planned to purchase two yarn skeins but ended up walking out with seven.  Michaels is having their "lowest prices of the season sale" and their yarn is incredibly cheap. I will probably be making a second trip later this week.

Their Red heart super saver yarn was on sale for $1.89 and Loops & Threads was on sale for $1.99!  A lot of their baby yarns were on sale for $2.45.  Not sure about yarn prices in other locations, but for Tampa that is extremely cheap!

The sale runs through April 21st.

Mickey and Minnie Crochet Hats

As you may have noticed I am still on my Disney kick.  Maybe it is because my anniversary is coming up next month and I got married at Disney World.  Anyway, I wanted to share my two most recent crochet projects.

First, I created this Mickey Mouse themed hat.  I had seen a few online and decided to create my own version.

I got some great feedback on my Mickey hat so I decided I needed to create a Minnie one as well.

I made the patterns up as I crocheted but I am going to write them up this week :)

Four Free Beginner Crochet Patterns

Four Free Beginner Crochet Patterns

Daily Crafting Deals at Craftsy.com

I was hoping to post my first few crochet video tutorials this weekend.  I spent a few hours yesterday filming them but when I went to load them onto my laptop I discovered my camcorder isn't compatible with Windows Vista.  How frustrating! Hopefully, I will be able to come up with a workaround soon and post the videos.

The tutorials I taped were on some of the basic skills for crochet beginners.  So, I thought I would share a few patterns that are great for those who are just learning to crochet.

1.  Crochet Dishcloth
This pattern is worked entirely using double crochet stitches.  It makes a great and useful first crochet project.

2.  Crochet Bracelet

This pattern is crochet using shell stitches.  It is quick to finish and is very cute.

3.  Crochet Bookmark

This pattern is also crocheted using a shell stitch.  Very easy to crochet and useful!

4.  Double Strand Headband

Online Crochet Class

This pattern is simple to crochet only using chain and single crochet stitches.  You can add an accent such as the small heart pictured below or wear it alone.
