Save this holiday season. Crochet personalized, homemade gifts with patterns by Tampa Bay Crochet.

Save this holiday season.  Crochet personalized, homemade gifts with patterns by Tampa Bay Crochet.

I love the holidays.  Going for drives in the evenings to look at Christmas lights, spending time with friends and family, listening to holiday music. However, too often the financial stress of gift giving can overshadow the joy of the holiday season.

Since learning to crochet, nearly all the gifts I give during the holiday season are homemade.  Not only does this lift the financial burden of the holiday season but it also allows me to give more personalized and heartfelt gifts to family and friends.

Below is a guide of homemade crochet gifts to help you save a little money and enjoy the holiday season.

Something to Make you Smile This Sunday

Something to Make you Smile This Sunday

Here is something to make you smile this Sunday afternoon.  I took this video of my chihuahua puppy, Stella, yesterday.  It was her first time playing in the leaves and as you can see she absolutely loved it.  This video makes me smile so hopefully it will do the same for you.  A little tip before you watch it, first click play, then click the settings button on the bottom of the screen to the left of the clock shape. Finally, click on 720P.  It changes the video quality to high definition.  Happy Sunday!

What's To Come at Tampa Bay Crochet

What's To Come at Tampa Bay Crochet

There are lots of new and exciting things happening at Tampa Bay Crochet. As you can tell, I recently renovated my blog.  I felt it was time my blog had a facelift.  I am not 100% done with all of the updates but I am very pleased with how the blog looks so far.

I have four new free crochet patterns in the works.  I was considering holding back the release of my next free crochet pattern since Minion Mitts are still the #1 free crochet pattern on Craftsy's top 20 list but I just wont be able to wait.  I am hoping to release my next free crochet pattern this weekend.

The Win It All Giveaway has been going very well.  The contest ends November 29th.  Towards the end of the Win It All Giveaway I will be starting my next contest.  The prize for my next giveaway will be advertising spots on Tampa Bay Crochet.

Over the next few weeks I will also be looking into purchasing my own domain.  I am so incredibly excited.  When I started Tampa Bay Crochet I never dreamed that it would be so successful.  I sincerely thank each and every one of you for supporting my blog and helping Tampa Bay Crochet grow into the blog it is today.

Learn How to Quilt and Take Professional Family Portraits for FREE!!

I received an e-mail from Craftsy letting me know about two brand new classes they are offering free of charge!  There are absolutely no strings attached!  If you have been wanted to learn or improve on a new skill now may be the time.

Course #1:
Learn How To Take Professional Family Portraits with Craftsy for FREE!

http://shrsl.com/?~4gx1

Class Description:  Bring out the best in your subjects with professional photographer Kirk Tuck’s advanced strategies for family portraiture. Transform any room into a portrait studio with Kirk's quick tips on improving your setting, and easily create ideal lighting indoors and out with the use of bounce flash, umbrellas and affordable materials like foam core. Discover the key to engaging your subject as Kirk reveals how to capture shots of energetic and oftentimes impatient toddlers. Shoot flattering portraits of mature subjects with professional exposure and composition techniques. Learn how to direct and pose a large group, and then move into post-processing to erase blemishes, soften wrinkles and modify color cast for polished images that families will be proud to display in their homes for years to come.

I cannot tell you how excited I am to take this course.  Photography has always been a hobby for my husband and I.  We have had the pleasure of taking photographs for family weddings, senior pictures and most recently my sister-in-laws engagement pictures.  The information I learn from this course will definitely be put to good use.

Course #2
Learn How To Piece, Patch, Quilt with Craftsy for FREE!

Class Description:  Whether you're renewing your love of quilting, or making a quilt for the first time, shop owner and instructor Gail Kessler is here to guide you to success. In Gail’s class, you’ll receive four accessible quilt patterns, and learn all the skills you need to bring them to life! You’ll go step-by-step through how to choose fabrics and a quilt design, cut and piece precisely, and press for crisp results. Add sashing and borders, sandwich and baste your quilt, then finish with a label to tell the world what you've created. Gail's enthusiasm and expertise make this class fun to watch and easy to follow.

Personally, I have always wanted to learn to quilt.  But, I don't know anyone else who quilts that could teach me.  I am thrilled to be able to start learning this skill.  I can't wait to make baby quilts for friends and family.

I hope you are just as eager about these new course offerings as I am.  I hope to share my new portraits and pictures of my first quilt once I finish each course.

I wanted to create my own unique minion inspired pattern.  I decided to combine two things I love, fingerless gloves and minions....and that's how Minion Mitts were born!

The pattern for minion mitts is written below but it is also available for download for free!
